Most of the men I have come across at work have been supportive,some had perceptions that had to be tackled with professional footing.A couple of them were very hesitant to appreciate out of their insecurities knowing that you will scale higher heights than them if given a chance. In some roles I had to work harder to get the same amount of recognition that men got. Men connected well at the smoke breaks or over evening drinks,getting advantage to spend casual time with bosses or decision makers. Getting success or promotion is not easy for women and if you get it,the insecure ones make problems.Smile and keep moving.

Advice to young women who aspire to pursue a career in the cleaning industry

In order to sustain career momentum and to be successful in the corporate world as a woman leader, you must be determined, focused, knowledgeable, and resilient. Have a plan for your career,constantly learn and upskill,balance your life, build a social network and leverage on your support systems,choose a supportive partner,speak up when need be, set goals regularly and have a methodical approach to achieve them.

Have an agile mindset with flexible thinking,reinvent yourself if needed,believe in your capabilities,look for opportunities to learn- knowledge is power,have clarity on your personal brand,praise,love and value yourself.
