How did you begin your career and how have you grown since then?
I began my hospitality career in 2006, driven by a passion for providing exceptional guest experiences. My first role was as a housekeeping team member, which laid the foundation for my career. Over time, I worked with some of the most renowned multinational hotel chains, including Accor, Sheraton, IHG, and Millennium, which gave me exposure to different hospitality standards and operational practices.
I have been fortunate to contribute to both pre-opening and post-opening projects. Pre-opening operations have been particularly significant in my career, as they allowed me to establish and standardize procedures, recruit and train staff, and ensure seamless handovers. Post-opening operations provided me with opportunities to refine systems and handle day-to-day challenges effectively.
Currently, I am honored to be part of Taiba Investments in Makkah. My roles have extended beyond housekeeping to encompass the rooms division and handling operations, as well as renovation projects. Each experience has helped me grow professionally, teaching me the value of adaptability, teamwork, and leadership.
What is the best part about your job?
The most fulfilling part of my job is creating exceptional guest experiences. The joy of seeing satisfied guests who appreciate the comfort, cleanliness, and attention to detail in their surroundings makes all the effort worthwhile.
Housekeeping is often behind the scenes, but its impact is profound. A well-kept room or a sparkling lobby contributes to a guest’s overall perception of the property. Knowing that my team and I play a vital role in making someone’s stay memorable gives me immense satisfaction.
Furthermore, I enjoy the leadership aspect of my role—mentoring team members, watching them grow, and building a collaborative work environment where everyone feels valued and motivated to perform their best.
What is the most challenging part of your job?
One of the biggest challenges in housekeeping is managing high standards consistently, particularly during peak seasons or unexpected situations such as last-minute guest requests or large group arrivals. Maintaining operational efficiency while meeting these dynamic needs requires careful planning and quick decision-making.
Another challenge is staying updated with the latest technologies and trends in housekeeping and implementing them effectively. For example, adapting to eco-friendly products and sustainable practices while ensuring cost-effectiveness requires a balance of innovation and practicality.
Moreover, staff retention and training can also be challenging in a fast-paced industry like hospitality. Building a team that is committed to excellence and equipped with the right skills is an ongoing process.

- Utilizing technology such as apps and software to streamline housekeeping operations and provide real-time updates on task completion.

In addition to technical skills, training also emphasizes soft skills such as communication, teamwork, and problem-solving, which are critical in dealing with guests and colleagues effectively.
Regular training sessions also build a sense of confidence and professionalism among team members, empowering them to take ownership of their tasks and deliver excellence. In my experience, a well-trained housekeeping team is the backbone of a successful hotel operation.
