- Can you take us back to the very beginning-how did you first enter the housekeeping field, and what motivated you to build a career in this department?
I began my career in 2016 after completing my bachelor degree of Hotel Management as a Front Desk Associate, but I always wanted to work abroad and gain new experiences. When I got the opportunity at Al Murooj Rotana, I joined housekeeping. In the beginning, it was challenging, but meeting guests from different cultures and seeing how our work made a difference motivated me. Today, I’m proud to have become the youngest Director of Housekeeping at 28, I want young professionals to know that housekeeping isn’t a limitation- we can rise to senior roles By supporting each other and embracing growth, we can break barriers and succeed together.
- From your first role to your current senior position, what have been the most valuable lessons you’ve learned along the way?
Believing in yourself, staying passionate, and being determined are key. Patience, attention to detail, and teamwork have been essential lessons. Every challenge has taught me resilience and adaptability, showing that consistent effort and a positive mindset lead to growth and success.
- Was there a particular challenge or milestone in your career that you feel defined your journey as a housekeeping leader?
Handling pre-opening and renovation projects with limited staff and resources was a defining moment. Working alongside my team, staying calm, and supporting each other taught me resilience, teamwork, and that a positive mindset can turn challenges into achievements.
- You’ve witnessed the industry evolve over the years. How has housekeeping changed in terms of expectations, processes, and recognition within hotels?
Housekeeping has evolved dramatically. Guests now expect higher standards of cleanliness, hygiene, and comfort, while technology and eco-friendly practices have made work more efficient. It’s rewarding to see housekeeping recognized as a key driver of guest satisfaction, which makes our role even more meaningful.
- What’s your philosophy when it comes to leading and motivating housekeeping teams, especially in such a high-pressure, guest-facing environment?
I believe in leading by example and being with the team through every challenge. I stay straightforward, honest, and open because I want to be a leader, not just a boss. Empowering my team with ownership and trust, while supporting them, ensures that even high-pressure situations are handled successfully and everyone delivers their best.
- Housekeeping directly impacts guest satisfaction. What strategies have you implemented to consistently maintain high standards and delight guests?
We focus on quality and adding a personal touch. I encourage my team to create “wow” moments for each guest, treat them like family, and engage naturally. Anticipating guest needs and taking pride in their work ensures memorable experiences every time.
- How have you embraced innovation and sustainability in your housekeeping practices—whether through green cleaning, digital tools, or resource management?
We use eco-friendly products, manage resources efficiently, and leverage digital tools to work smarter. Planting over 1,500 indoor and outdoor plants has created a greener, refreshing environment for guests. Sustainability and innovation go hand-in-hand with maintaining high standards and guest satisfaction.
- The Middle East hospitality industry is highly diverse. How have you managed teams of different nationalities and backgrounds to create a cohesive culture?
Respect, open communication, and valuing each person’s strengths are essential. By celebrating differences and supporting one another, we build a cohesive, inclusive team where everyone feels valued and motivated to give their best.
- Looking back, which of your accomplishments in housekeeping are you most proud of?
I am proud of leading pre-opening and renovation projects, managing diverse teams, and maintaining high guest standards. Becoming the youngest Director of Housekeeping at 28, winning Best Manager of the Year awards. and being approached by international magazines and my college are milestones that reflect my journey, impact, and growth.
- Finally, what advice would you give to young housekeeping professionals starting their journey today, and what legacy would you like to leave behind in this industry?
I would say to all: Believe in yourself, stay passionate, and embrace challenges. We must break the old mindset that limits housekeepers to their department- anyone can rise to senior leadership roles. Supporting each other, sharing knowledge, and lifting each other up will help us succeed together. I hope my legacy inspires future generations to see housekeeping as a career full of opportunity, pride, and impact.
