Your journey as a woman in the cleaning industry

From the start of my career, while working through the ranks, I have always been influenced  and inspired by other women, who guided me  to become the professional I am today.  

Gender related challenges in your career

While I was working in Europe , where the cleaning industry is dominated mainly by women, I have never really experienced any gender related challenges, until I came to the Middle East, where the industry is dominated by male employees of whom some were reluctantly taking advice from a female cleaning professional . However, I overcome these challenges through my educational background in housekeeping  & janitorial science and by leading from the front. 

Advice to young women who aspire to pursue a career in the cleaning industry

My advice to a young woman who aspires to pursue a career in the cleaning industry is, gain experience by learning and understanding  the basic principles of the cleaning and janitorial industry, which allow you to become more confident and progress in your career. Always be open-minded to mentors that will guide you along the way.
