Cleaning and catering segments in the UAE are recession-resistant as these sectors have been growing steadily regardless of slowdown in the global economy. “In fact, the financial crisis had negligible impact on our business. Moreover, the diversity and our core competencies got us lion’s share in the market space,” says Joseph John.

This is further substantiated by a Dubai Government official stating that waste produced by Dubai is amongst the highest globally. The official further explained that the huge quantity of waste produced was due to the rapid economic growth, the city has experienced.

What challenges you see for maintaining high hygiene standards in the region particularly UAE?

Due to the current state of demand in the market, precision and efficiency would play a vital role in the industry. This entails proper planning and scheduling of works. The growing trend in the market is driving price competition in a sector where volume demand is now declining. What’s your take on this?
