Umm Al Quwain Municipality Trains Restaurant Workers on Food Safety Compliance

Umm Al Quwain Municipality has organised a food safety awareness workshop for restaurant and cafeteria employees as part of its ongoing efforts to strengthen hygiene standards and protect public health across the emirate.

Held at the Government Services Centre in Falaj Al Mualla, the workshop focused on promoting safe food handling practices, improving compliance with health regulations and reducing food-related risks in commercial food establishments.

The programme highlighted the importance of maintaining appropriate hygiene and food safety standards throughout the food preparation, handling and serving processes. It also aimed to improve employees' understanding of approved health practices and their role in maintaining food quality and consumer safety.

Obaid Ghanem Al Saqqal, Director of the Health, Safety and Environment Sector at Umm Al Quwain Municipality, emphasised the municipality's commitment to strengthening food safety through continuous awareness and educational initiatives.

He highlighted the importance of improving workforce competency and establishing a culture of compliance with health and safety requirements to minimise food-related risks.

The workshop forms part of the municipality's broader approach to food safety, complementing its ongoing inspection and regulatory activities. By combining employee education with enforcement measures, the municipality aims to encourage greater accountability among food business operators and their staff.

Al Saqqal also stressed the importance of cooperation between food establishment owners, employees and municipal authorities in implementing approved hygiene and food safety standards.

The initiative reinforces the role of staff training and preventive practices in maintaining food hygiene across the hospitality and food-service sectors, where consistent adherence to safety requirements is essential to protecting consumers.
