Revisiting Interclean 2022

Attractions at Interclean 2022

After COVID-19 forced Interclean online in 2020, attendees eagerly visited in person once again. The 2022 edition of Interclean featured numerous innovations, a versatile program and plenty of opportunities to network.

Exhibitors from across the globe came together once again for a splendid display of products and technologies that have the potential to transform the world. An Innovation Lab, a Robot Arena, a Zero Waste Dome, a focus on cleaning in the care sector and a special program for facility managers, the exhibition brought the entire world of cleaning under one roof. Here are some highlights from Interclean 2022!

The exhibition hall

The 10 halls hosted approximately 650 exhibitors from 40 countries. It goes without saying that the hall was abuzz with new age innovations and visitors representing 155 different nationalities. There was plenty of networking opportunities and a refreshing chance to experience products and innovations.

Clean connect platform

The all new Clean Connect online platform made it easy for exhibitors, visitors and the media to get the most out of their visit to the exhibition. It also allowed attendees to select their favorite sessions from the program and watch the daily Interclean Inside show live.

Amsterdam innovation award

An independent jury selected 12 nominees in 4 categories from 78 submissions. The announcement of the category winners and the Visitors' Choice and the awarding of the Innovation Award to the overall winner were announced on May 10. Throughout the exhibition, visitors couldn’t help but admire the groundbreaking submissions in the Innovation Lab.

Industry event for facility managers

The Facility Inspiration Event (FIE) also informed facility managers of the current challenges in cleaning and facility strategies. It helped FM professionals find the right solutions for the challenges they face.

Cleaning for health

To cater to a large number of visitors interested in the healthcare cleaning sector, Interclean showcased cleaning products and practices developed especially for the care sector in the Healthcare Cleaning Lab. Visitors were able to see live demonstrations on specialized cleaning methods, guidelines, clothing regulations, hand hygiene and much more.

Robots And Cobots

An important aspect of cleaning this year is robotization. This also reflected in the Interclean 2022. We found the latest trends such as cobots. In the Robot Arena, we experienced first-hand the benefits of using robots and cobots in order to create a more efficient cleaning strategy.

Digitization

The digitization of the cleaning industry happened to be in the spotlight at Interclean, with exhibitors presenting the latest software and management solutions in the Management & Mobility Solutions segment. Digitalization was also the theme of the Hackathon on May 11, when 10 teams came together to demonstrate their capacity to solve problems.

Sustainable Solutions

Sustainability just cannot be avoided any longer. This was evident at Interclean 2022 in the exhibitors' displays. Interclean also offered a special Future Friendly route which took visitors through innovative and sustainable products on display. What spiked most interest was the Zero Waste Dome. Visitors obtained interesting information about the crucial role of cleaners in terms of waste management, and attended lectures by waste separation and re-purposing experts.

“Our robot is the latest innovation in cleaning technology. It is intended for use in logistics, warehouses and large areas upto 10000 to 20000 sq mts. The robot is different from any other dry cleaning machine because it is fully autonomous. It uses artificial intelligence to create a map of the environment and find the path by itself. All our products are Swiss made. They are currently being used in Europe but soon we will expand to the U.S, Japan and the Middle East.”

“We are very happy to be here at Interclean Amsterdam after 4 years. It was a hard time for all and now we are looking at some sustainable floor innovations because it is very important to think about our environment to keep. We also bring some eco-label products. What’s more, more and more of our packaging material is made from PCR material. We are lucky to be here and will have a good show!”
- Karl-Ludwig Niederhofer, Head of Marketing Communications, KIEHL

“We can say that COVID-19 has gone. So we are thinking of the future plans and programs. This show is just the right place for launching. The next event we are going to run will be in Italy. It is called Forum ISSA Pulire and will be conducted in October in Milan. Right after, we will be hosting the ISSA Pulire Clean Africa in Lagos, Nigeria. We are looking forward to our next major event in May 2023 called the ISSA Pulire Show.

We have 3 major missions within the ISSA - one is the tradeshow, one is the training, education and certification program and the third is to recruit more members in different countries”
- Toni D’Andrea, CEO, ISSA Pulire Network

"We can look back on four very successful days, with a positive vibe in the exhibition halls. Everyone was extremely happy to finally meet each other again in person. We received many positive responses, from business contacts who were pleasantly surprised about the international nature of the exhibition, exhibitors who were able to make many more new contacts or close new orders and speakers who talked enthusiastically about the large audiences and their willingness to interact. This week has demonstrated that the power of personal interaction is extremely valuable. I am also proud of the Healthcare Cleaning Forum where we bridged the gap between infection prevention and cleaning. It was also fantastic to see how our sector is dealing with sustainability. On top of all that we learned that robotization has now really taken off. We cannot wait until 2024.”
- Robert Stelling (director, Interclean Global Events)
