- Tin Moe Win, Executive Housekeeper of Radisson Blu Hotel Dubai Canal View, Dubai
After graduating in physics, Tin Moe Win, the current Executive Housekeeper of Radisson Blu Hotel Dubai Canal View, realized that her passion was deeply rooted in hospitality and service. This passion led to the beginning of a glorious career. Today, she successfully leads the housekeeping and laundry department operation of a top hotel. Let’s take a look at her journey.
About yourself
My name is Tin Moe Win. I am a mother of a beautiful daughter and happen to be the Executive Housekeeper of Radisson Blu Hotel Dubai Canal View. I studied and graduated with a degree in physics but I found my love and passion in hospitality industries where I can meet a lot of people from around the world and learn from them.
Your experience and years in the industry
I started my hotel career with Raffles Hotel in 2010 and moved to Grosvenor House Dubai in 2012 until Radisson Blu Hotel Dubai Waterfront recruited me in 2018 as Housekeeping Manager. In 2021 I was transferred and promoted to become the Executive Housekeeper in Radisson Blu Hotel Dubai Canal View.
How did you get into the hospitality industry and how you’ve grown since then?
In the beginning, I started my career in the hospitality industry just for the experience, opportunities to travel around the world and meet people. However once I truly experienced the good and the bad working in the industry, I started to develop a deep passion for hospitality and service. This passion is what helps me to grow in this industry.
What drives you and your career?
I genuinely think that what we do is not only about providing a good service to our guests but we also have the ability to create lasting memories in a person's life. The hotel industry not only helps me to build my career, but it also builds my passion and personality to be a better person.
An accomplishment that shaped your career
I have received 4 promotions in the span of 6 years when I was working in Grosvenor House Dubai and I was one of the youngest in the managerial position in the department. I received an award as Manager of the Year in 2019 in Radisson Blu Hotel Dubai Waterfront, a year after I joined the company. In 2020, I received an Ambassador of Culture award from the same hotel.
The best part of your job
The best part of my job is to be there and work together with the team. We provide a clean, safe and comfortable environment for our guests and colleagues. To help and see my team members grow and develop in careers and as people. Though housekeeping service is mostly an invisible process from the guest's perspective, it always made my day every time we received recognition and appreciation from them.
The most challenging aspect of your job
The most challenging aspect of my job was maintaining a very high degree of cleanliness and hygiene standards in the property during the pandemic situation while ensuring the safety of my team members without any compromise. We have been the forefront agent during the crisis and I am very proud of our achievement so far.
Housekeeping is a very physically demanding job that is often less appreciated or overlooked by the guest, hence keeping the team motivated at all times is a challenging but most rewarding role for me.
Why is sustainability so important to you?
At a personal level, I believe we are practising and maintaining sustainability at various degrees in our lives. By nature, we try to preserve a safe, healthy and happy environment for our future generations. Parents do this for their children and the children do it for their children and the cycle repeats naturally.
However, collectively we are still struggling to work together due to different understanding, awareness, priority and importance of the issue for all of us. We always struggle to see the bigger picture because the current environmental impact and issues rarely have a direct impact on our daily life.
In our hotel, we are actively educating our employees and our guest on sustainability and making them understand that their individual contribution to the initiative even small will have a meaningful impact collectively.
Maintaining sustainability is our social responsibility to ensure the survival of our future generation. Every change of mindset to the positive direction is meaningful and important.
