Your impact on housekeeping

I started my career back in 2007 as a room attendant where I learned all housekeeping from basics. This has added to my experience to know each of every technique. 

I consistently bring forth innovative approaches to enhance housekeeping and the cleanliness of guest rooms. Each day, I draw valuable insights from my interactions with guests, providing me with essential training insights to elevate the experience for those who utilise our rooms. I maintain an open-door policy, encouraging my team to openly communicate their challenges, concerns, and requirements, fostering a seamless workflow. My approach involves active daily engagement with my team, meeting with guests, conducting quality room inspections, and providing training. 

The challenges you faced in your housekeeping career
Post-COVID, staffing challenges emerged, so I taught my team multitasking and daily deep cleaning routines. To control housekeeping expenses, we heightened cost awareness and introduced par stock. Rewarding saving initiatives worked well. Ensuring guest satisfaction was a priority, achieved through team training, personalised services, and daily interactions. Quality equipment and eco-friendly methods were adopted to prolong their life, reducing cleaning time while maintaining cleanliness and fabric quality.

Your advice to fellow housekeeping professionals

Adopting eco-friendly equipment, such as hot steam machines, reduces costs and maintains hotel quality. Green cleaning products elevate cleanliness while ensuring safety for staff and the environment. Motivating teams through reward programs and career growth plans fosters responsibility and engagement. Valuing staff ideas enhances operations, and staying updated with technology bolsters guest satisfaction and hotel reputation.
