Your journey as a woman in the cleaning industry

Over the years, the cleaning industry has become more diverse and inclusive, challenging its previous male-dominated reputation. With a global shift towards universal gender parity, I have seen women take on various leadership roles within this industry. As the Head of ServeU Essentials, I am extremely proud to play a part in breaking the glass ceiling and driving the change to make the industry more inclusive and diverse. I am committed to supporting my female employees throughout their professional journey, ensuring they have equal opportunities for advancement within the organization. At ServeU Essentials, we believe that diversity strengthens our team, and we are dedicated to helping each of our employees realize their full potential.

Gender related challenges in your career

The cleaning industry is significant to maximising and maintaining a property and value, aesthetics, and primarily, its health and wellbeing. As women are considered to be more efficient in managing this industry, I have not faced any challenges personally due to my

gender. Although gender bias, unequal pay, limited opportunities for career growth and other challenges are known to exist in any field we choose to pursue, I have never personally confronted such situations or incidents, particularly at ServeU. I strongly believe that such difficulties could be vanquished if organisations choose to address them by implementing equitable training and development opportunities for both men and women, as well as by creating an inclusive culture that respects diversity.

Advice to young women who aspire to pursue a career in the cleaning industry
There are multiple prospects for development and success for women in the cleaning

industry. It is essential to believe in yourself and not compare your progress with others. Be strong and confident to speak up and be heard. Women should always feel confident in pursuing their ambitions. Therefore, prioritise education and training to gain necessary knowledge, expertise, and skills required for success in the cleaning sector.
