Your journey as a woman in the cleaning industry

My journey has been very successful and equally rewarding. Every position comes with responsibilities and expectations and I have been constantly challenging myself to develop, both strategically and mentally. I’ve also come to know that over time we need to change, adapt and move forward, as the world is constantly developing with new methods and practices that affect the hospitality industry in a huge way and people have expectations which need to be met.

Through my career I have been vigorously climbing up the ladder, starting my first role as a Trainee Supervisor, moving on to Senior Supervisor, Assistant Executive Housekeeper and so on. Each role becoming more and more challenging, I really strived and pushed myself to get to where I am today.

Gender related challenges in your career

Honestly I have never experienced any gender challenges in my career and I know that many women have done so, which in today’s world should no longer be the case. I am blessed to have worked with great leaders and mentors both male and female,  who have guided me through my journey. I am also proud to be working in a country that practices gender equality and recognizes so many inspirational and strong women in all roles and careers. Personally, I feel there should be no difference between male or females in the industry, as the role and responsibilities can be achieved by anyone who has the passion.

Advice to young women who aspire to pursue a career in the cleaning industry
Simply to never stop dreaming, be open minded, don’t be afraid to voice your opinion, be the best version of yourself.
