Gender related challenges in your career
After studying IT and working in technology in the cleaning industry for many years, I can appreciate why so many women struggle to flourish in this field, given the gender imbalance. Being a woman in cleaning tech’ requires navigating a complex career, and today’s women tech’ leaders have a crucial role to play in mentoring and cultivating confidence, to support the next generation of female leaders, helping them to break the glass ceiling and build their own successful careers.
Advice to young women who aspire to pursue a career in the cleaning industry
The science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM) field is distinguished by a constant gender gap worldwide. This gap starts in the education system, with the belief that certain roles are better suited to men and consequently, women choosing STEM careers often work in a male-dominated environment.
So, we as women are even more important in the tech’ cleaning industry, Why?
- We must support our daughters, sisters, friends and all our young women with drive and ambition.
- We must be confident, and never undervalue ourselves or lose faith in our ability.
We need to work together with men, to break down gender barriers and biases and focus on creating breakthrough technology.
