Inaya Facilities Management Services (Inaya FM) took over the total facilities management services at The Gardens; a community with 129 low-rise buildings spread over 220 hectares. Cleaning the dead foliage from the parking lot and pathways was one of the main challenges facing Inaya during the mobilisation planning stage for effective delivery of cleaning services. “Use a road sweeper was effective in addressing the removal of foliage in the car parks or the pathways in this huge community complex,” said Nishant Ravindran, General Manager of Inaya FM. “ We had to think outside the box and looked at various options as deploying a large pool of people was not the most cost effective or efficient method,” added Ravindran. Finally, last November, Inaya FM found a solution by adapting practices in industrial cleaning to suit the needs of residential community cleaning. Inaya purchased two petrol driven hydraulic vacuum cleaners from Belgium based company Glutton.
Al Fajer SM Services, the cleaning service provider for Inaya FM became one of the first companies to use petrol-driven hydraulic industrial vacuum cleaners, in residential areas. The Glutton is designed to efficiently vacuum up all kinds of waste, and to transform and radically enhance the work of the “street cleaner”. The equipment can be used where sweeping is not practical and efficient – pavements, streets, alleyways, public places, markets, car parks, halls, rooms, platforms, train stations, tree bases and grills. Through its 12.5 centimetre tube, the Glutton machine sucks in any waste including paper, cardboard, cigarette packets and butts, cans and glass, plastic and metal bottles, dog faeces, dead leaves, waste trapped in tree grills, wood, steel, etc. “The Glutton has minimised the manpower required to clean The Gardens in the most effective manner” said Ravindran.
