The Buildings Department at Dubai Municipality in cooperation with the Society of Engineers has launched an initiative under the title ‘My Green Home’, with the aim of educating citizens about methods and procedures of house construction and guiding them to avoid potential mistakes and risks throughout the stages of design and construction as well as directing them towards the concept of green building. As part of the initiative a seminar and exhibition was organised from January 28 to 29.
Eng Khalid Mohammed Saleh, Director of Buildings Department said that the seminar was organised in collaboration with Mohammed Bin Rashid Housing Est, Zayed Housing Programme, companies specialising in green materials for construction and a number of consultancy firms. “The Municipality is keen to provide continuous learning opportunities for engineers and experts and to encourage them to exchange experiences and information in the era of rapid developments in the fields of science and technology at local, regional and international levels,” Eng Khalid said.
The two-day exhibition to promote Green Building concepts, was organised by Dubai Municipality in association with Society of Engineers at latter’s headquarters in Al Mamzar. Seminars and workshops on various topics were held on the sidelines of the exhibition. “Exhibition and seminars aim at imparting awareness to protect environment and educating on Green Building concepts,” said Eng Khaled. Mohammed Bin Rashid Housing Establishment, Sheikh Zayed Housing Programme and many other government and private bodies concerned with building sector took part in the event.
