Why is sustainability important to you?

Sustainability is the new norm in any industry and will revolutionize the way businesses are run. Our definition of sustainability is any initiative that is a subset of the main business that creates employment opportunities and protects the environment.

Tell us about the initiatives your company takes towards sustainability.

We as a textile rental service provider have launched two main programs that support the textile industry for the benefit of the users and the economy

When the pandemic broke out, we researched to bring in a product that has better characteristics that supports the antimicrobial elements and saves water in the production and maintenance process of the Linen. Thus, Dr.Linen™ as a premium product evolved in early 2020 to position in the hotel industry. Dr.Linen is a local trademarked product of Dubai. We always had a mix of cotton and polyester in the bath and bed linen and for the first time we developed a product of cotton fibers blended with Tencel Fibers which are completely sustainable in nature. Tencel is a product that is grown in Austria and processed by the world leader “ Lenzing “ to achieve CO2 -neutral and sustainably produced fibers. Carbon free products are the future of the industry.

The second initiative that was introduced by us is the 360 Weave program. In view to bring in a 360 degree approach to our business cycle, we introduced this program to breathe a new life into the linen that comes out from our rental services program. This program supports the waste to get converted into a value by the extraction of fibers from the linen and processing it with virgin fibers to create a recycled product. This initiative supports the circular economy and avoids the dumping of the waste in the landfill.

Tell us about your products/ technologies that contribute towards a sustainable future and how.

Dr.Linen as a product is positioned to be a game changer in the industry. As the raw material costs of cotton and Tencel are closely at par, this blend makes it more convenient for use in the hotel industry to offer advantages like better moisture regain than cotton fibers, uses lesser amount of water in the processing of fibers and in the laundry wash process, and is durable and comfortable. We strongly believe that this will be the best opted sustainable product for hotels, hospitals, apparels for consumers and so on. Study reveals that Tencel fibers require less than 2% of the water consumption in comparison to processing cotton fibers.

To support the recycling process, we will bring in specialized technology partners from our principals in Europe. We will soon set up a central processing facility to consolidate the textile and apparel waste from the Middle east to be processed here.

Tell us about your sustainable initiatives in the pipeline for the future.

360 Weave – CREATING IMPACT is the initiative that will be given thrust in 2023 to bring in the awareness among the Hospitality industry professionals and to bring control in the discard of Linen and Uniforms to get rejuvenated for a life extension.

PRODUCE – USE – RECYCLE – REUSE will be the 4 pillars in the whole value chain that will be created in the industry. We look forward to creating a Textile circularity club that will allow the professionals to join and exchange ideas to propel a sustainable and stronger economy that reinforces the future of this country.
