The 24th Edition of Pulire- The Smart Show continues to grow, receives over 17,000 visitors
The 24th edition of Pulire was held from May 21st to May 23rd, 2019 at the Verona Exhibition Center in Verona, Italy. The biennial event is organised by Afidamp Servizi that brings together professionals, producers and distributors of the professional cleaning sector from all continents. This year the show witnessed 17,108 visitors from 111 countries, marking a six per cent increase in the footfalls compared to the previous edition; of these, 30.68 per cent were foreign nationals. The number of exhibitors also increased from 300 in 2017 to 312 this year.
Equally important was the presence of foreign companies as they represented the 30 per cent. The exhibitors showcased their products in an area of around 16,300 m2 spread in the three indoor halls and the outdoor demonstration area. The exhibitors list included companies like Arco Chemical Group, Lindhuas; Industrie Celtex; Centralcarta; Lucart; Technological Systems by Moro (TSM); TTS Cleaning; Falpi; Ghibli & Wirbel; Filmop International to name a few. “Pulire– The Smart Show is a significant event for the cleaning industry in Europe, the Middle East, and we are thrilled that it has grown both in size and in depth of content,” said Dianna Steinbach, Vice President of International Services, ISSA. “We expect to add much more for 2021 and continue this trend.”
The technological showcase
Not only did attendance grow, but so did the variety of technology and solutions on display, with 30 per cent of exhibitors from outside of Italy and 12 per cent of companies exhibiting for the first time. The exhibitors came from 21 countries along with five entire foreign delegations from the United States, Morocco, Egypt, Turkey, and South Africa. To facilitate networking, the show collaborated with the ICE – Italian Trade Agency to set up an international lounge for B2B meetings. The five delegations of foreign operators represented strategic and representative markets in the world of distribution, facility service providers, and integrated services for the professional cleaning sector.
Innovation was another cornerstone of Pulire 2019. Some of the groundbreaking products showcased included floor cleaning machines with lithium batteries, a remote-control system for product consumption, multi-function trolleys, odour-control toilet paper, ozone washing machines, and autonomous sweeping machines that follow the operator. An equipped outdoor area enabled live demonstrations that put latest-generation sweepers to the test. AIISA (Italian Association of Hygienists of HVAC Systems) and SNS (Scuola Nazionale Servizi), along with Afidamp, expanded their offerings with a new certification on air ducts and with new courses, reaffirming the value of training. The event also hosted a window cleaner competition. Out of 20 cleaning professionals, Daniele Gardoni from La Spezia won the second edition of Henry Unger Trophy.
The Pulire 2019 Product of the Year Award
The new award was created to recognise the research of professional cleaning industry companies as well as the market response to the products. Taking part in this edition were a total of 33 products (made by 18 Italian and 15 international companies), specifically, nine products in the machinery category; six in equipment; seven in products and accessories for the environment; five in cleaning, maintenance and disinfecting products; three in IT services; two in components and finally, one in the accessories category. The products were made by 25 manufacturers — 14 Italian and 11 international (Germany, China, the US, the Netherlands, Slovakia) which also participated in the Pulire 2019 event as either exhibitors or co-exhibitors. The selection was based on quality, reliability, environmental compatibility, ergonomic efficiency and convenience, all different characteristics but all equally important, because they represent the traits buyers are looking for. During the awards ceremony, which took place at the Afidamp booth in Hall 6 of Veronafiere, the three finalists were revealed: the Origo 2 trolley system by Vileda Professional, the floor cleaning system by Unger, and the chemical product by Wermer& Mertz. Vileda Professional was named the winner of the Pulire 2019 Product of the Year Award by an international panel of judges.
New development
The three-day show closed with excitement regarding what the ISSA/ Afidamp partnership — the ISSA PULIRE Network — will bring for the 2021 edition. The new company ISSA PULIRE Network is 50 per cent owned by Afidamp FAB and 50 per cent by ISSA. "The major development this year is we have completed the process of integration with ISSA by creating a new company ISSA Pulire Network. The tie-up was necessary to make the show more international. This year the show had an additional 30 per cent international visitors. The intend is to expand this number to 50 per cent in the next two editions. The show is still perceived as the Italian show which is not the case. This year we had also invited foreign delegations from various companies to meet and understand what they expect from us in the future. We will definitely try and meet their expectations," said Toni D’Andrea, CEO, Afidamp Servizi.
