The 2017 edition of the world’s leading cleaning industry event, ISSA/INTERCLEAN North America Trade Show and ISSA Convention, concluded successfully after its four-day long show, with all the major players from the cleaning industry, including distributors, manufacturers, building service contractors, facility cleaning professionals, facility managers, operations managers, technical engineers and so on coming together under one roof.
One of the most anticipated events on the cleaning industry calendar, the trade show held from 11-14 September in Las Vegas, NV, USA, played host to more than 16,000 cleaning and facility management professionals from around the world who were keen to learn about new products, improve their skills, uncover fresh solutions for the regular challenges they face and network with all the key players in the business. With over 700 exhibitors from 25 countries, this key event held under the theme “Uncover Extraordinary” demonstrated the latest developments in the industry offering a wide range of product innovations and great networking opportunities for both the exhibitors and visitors. New for 2017 was an expanded exhibit space and extended outdoor exhibits hours, with the event running Monday through Thursday.
Providing further learning and networking opportunities were the four co-located events – EPIC 2017, Building Service Contractors Association International (BSCAI) Annual Convention, Cleaning Equipment Trade Association (CETA) Annual Convention, and IEHA Annual Convention.
Educational seminars and workshops
Adding great value to ISSA/INTERCLEAN were the numerous education seminars, training workshops and certification programmes that were held during the event. Apart from addressing significant issues in the cleaning industry, these focused sessions aided in improving the skills of participants, streamlining their processes and updating professional certifications.
ISSA Innovation Awards
ISSA recognised the cleaning industry advances by presenting the annual Innovation Visitors’ Choice Awards and overall ISSA Innovation of the Year Award on September 14 at the conclusion of the trade show. The ISSA Innovation Award Programme recognises the cleaning industry’s most innovative products and services as voted by the distributors, building service contractors, in-house service providers and residential cleaners. Entries are organised into five different categories: Cleaning Agents, Dispensers, Equipment, Services and Technology, and Supplies and Accessories.
The winners of the ISSA Innovation Category awards are:

• Supplies: Self-Cleaning Surfaces for Travel and Hospitality by NanoTouch Materials Keynote speaker Howie Mandel, entertainer and TV host, presented the ISSA Innovation Visitors’ Choice and ISSA Innovation of the Year awards. The latter was selected by combining the online and on-site voting results with scores submitted by a panel of judges.
Clorox® Total 360™ System by Clorox Professional Products Company bagged the ISSA Innovation of the Year Award.
The Visitors’ Choice Awards went to i-mop XXL by i-team Global; Robotic Vacuum by Makita USA; Doodle Skate by Square Scrub; Spill Mop by Rubbermaid Commercial Products; and Clorox® Total 360™ System by Clorox Professional Products Company.
The next edition of ISSA/INTERCLEAN North America will take place October 29 - November 1, 2018 in Dallas, USA.
