Cleaning Management Services (CMS Berlin), a premiere exhibition for cleaning, hygiene, maintenance and property management sector was held at Berlin from 24th to the 27th September 2019. CMS Berlin is or ganised by Messe Berlin GmbH. The umbrella organisations were the Building Cleaning Trade (BIV), Bonn, the Association of Cleaning Systems in the G erman Engineering Federation (VDMA), Frankfurt / Main, and the Industry Association for Hygiene and Surface Protection for Industrial and Institutional Application (IHO), Frankfurt / Main.
The focus of the exhibition was on the challenges of the next decade and how digitalisation and sustainability are driving the development of cleaning machines, cleaning agents and cleaning processes. The CMS Berlin 2019 was a glamor ous affair with the organisers and umbrella organisations of the International Cleaning Trade Fair attracting a very positive trade fair conclusion.
Around 25,000 industry representatives from 80 countries, including around 21,000 trade visitors from all cleaning segments, gathered information about the current range of commercial cleaning products and services. This represents an increase of more than 10 per cent compared to CMS 2017. Digitisation and sustainability have dominated the innovation spectrum of cleaning machines, cleaning agents and cleaning processes. And one aspect of the subject-specific framework programme was the following in lectures and discussions. Markus Stojan, Vice President Business Development Europe, Essity GmbH, Germany mentioned, "Tork is Essity's leading professional hygiene brand. Here at CMS, we have proven that embedding our digital product solutions into the circular economy with the recycling of our paper to new products is well received by our service customers. The high decision-making competence and the intensive exchange of information between the national and international industry representatives, the top level in the exhibition area as well as the comprehensive market overview with more than 100 world and trade fair premieres were the quality criteria of this year's CMS Berlin."
With the strongest participation to date, around 450 exhibitors from 25 countries presented a complete market overview of products and services from all areas of commercial cleaning technology at the CMS Berlin 2019 on more than 31,000 sq.m. of indoor and outdoor exhibition space. For the first time, young innovative companies also participated showcasing their range of products and new technical developments at a joint stand sponsored by the Federal Ministry of Economics and Technology (BMWi). These included, for example, cleaning robots for facade cleaning at high altitudes, a hot water / superheated steam system for the environmentally friendly removal of wild herbs or a toilet cleaning rod with a tip of rolled-up pulp, which may be disposed of in the toilet.
Specialist framework programme
Highlights of the specialist framework programme was the CMS World Summit 2019 on "Inject Innovation" with over 200 national and international top representatives of theindustry. The Summit highlighted future technologies and business opportunities in the cleaning industry.
The second edition of the Mobility Cleaning Circle brought together over 80 high-level representatives from the cleaning and mobility industries. At this exclusive networking event, they discussed the requirements, needs and solutions of their industries. The CMS Praxis forum offered trade visitors from a wide variety of fields a target group-specific lecture and discussion programme. These included current topics from the cleaning of buildings and the new framework collective agreement, expert contributions for representatives from the health, hotel and gastronomy sector as well as municipal institutions, and topics related to occupational safety, hygiene and health.
Attractions in the exhibition area included the live demonstrations of the machines and cleaning agents. For example, the "Plant Care" trade fair showed machines, equipment and accessories for green space maintenance, road and path cleaning as well as winter maintenance equipment. In the outdoor area exhibitors were showcasing the glass facade cleaning and the various aerial work platforms on the action ar eas. The live show of the Mobility Cleaning Cir cle demonstrated the interior and exterior cleaning of public transport buses from Berlin and Brandenburg - from the cleaning of passenger seats with special vacuum cleaners to the removal of graffiti on the bus bodywork. Last but not least, press events with an event character was also the highlight.
CMS Purus Innovation Award 2019
The CMS Purus Innovation Award (PIA) 2019 was awarded in four categories this y ear: Category Large Machines: KENTER Floor Cleaning Machines Sales and Service GmbH - Comac C 85 NSC; Category Small Machinery: Husqvarna Deutschland GmbH - Husqvarna Automower 535 AWD; Category Equipment: Hako GmbH - DUST STOP; Category: Digital Tools and Systems: ADLATUS Robotics GmbH - ADLATUS TEAMS 2020. The PIA is considered to be one of the most prestigious industry awards and this year had the highest participation with 65 contest submissions. Stephan Schwarz, Jury Chairman of the Purus Innovation Award, member of the board of the Federal Guild of Building Cleaning Trade; Managing Partner of GRG Services Berlin GmbH & Co. KG said, "The Purus Innovation Award 2019 is a trend barometer for the innovative strength of the industry and a reflection of the current development in the cleaning industry. Digitalisation and sustainability characterize products, services and processes. Four outstanding examples have been awarded this year's PIA. " The next CMS Berlin will take place from 21 to 24 September, 2021 at the Berlin Exhibition Center.
