New Ecological Information
“We offer users interested in ecological issues a unique transparency, while intentionally refraining from commonly used “green” marketing statements. At the start of the year, the product development guidelines were revised and a strict development guideline largely based on the criteria of the European Ecolabel has been introduced. In consequence this effects the whole product portfolio whilst any EcoLabel is focused on one product only,” Karl said.
As part of this change, the buzil Certificates of Ecology were also rewritten. Under the title of buzil Ecological Information, the contents have been optimised and adapted to the current requirements.
“In this way, Buzil offers users interested in environmental aspects not only a unique level of transparency with an intentional absence of the typical “green” marketing statements, but also the certainty that users of buzil products enjoy an optimal combination of low environmental impact and high performance. The central elements of the new ecological information texts are three of the most informative measurement parameters from waste water analysis: Theoretical oxygen demand,biodegradability according to the OECD 301 methods and Phosphorous content (calculated as elemental phosphorous),” says Karl.

Using BuzilPlanta®products, the consumers can avoid the usage of cleaning agents with phosphates, APEO, NTA, EDTA, nitromusc and ammonium compounds. The other advantage is that customers can focus on resource optimization by reducing the number of lines of cleaning detergents being used in the project. How is the demand for Green cleaning chemicals in the market?
How are factors such as cost, sceptical attitude influencing the consumer mind set?
There could be a perception in the market that eco-friendly cleaning chemicals are mild or less effective &expensive or beyond a project’s commercial reach!However, science proves that these products are extremely efficient, commercially viable and builds the CSR value in projects.This inadequately developed information can lead to the customer refraining from even trying to understand the concept of an authentic ‘Green’ cleaning agent.
How effective are Green products?
Our quality and end results are proof of effectiveness of Green products. We would also like to provide a solution to prove that buzilPlanta® products, other than being of higher quality are very competitive on a cost/ m² performance with reference to various other brands and even local products.”
For example:-
dilution of low cost product (all-purpose cleaner) = 1:50 (500 ml to 10 Litre water) dilution of buzilPlanta edition eco-friendly product = 1:300 ( 30ml to 10 Litre water) This is a factor improvement of high proportions while using the buzil products. A 10 liter canister can produce around 3300 liters of ready to use cleaning solution after dilution and can cover approximately around 50,000m².
What segments contribute the most to the demand?
The Government sector is very active what with the key installations like airports and other important govt. buildings focusing on using sustainable cleaning products. Most of the top cleaning service providers and FM companies generate demand for green products to be used in their clients’ projects across the UAE. Certain established service providers have taken the initiative of incorporating only green products in their portfolio of cleaning service offerings in projects.
Why is the awareness in the Middle East market lacking?
The Government in various emirates in the UAE is doing a lot. I think in developing guidelines and promoting sustainability focused activities and living. The media could play a vital role in creating awareness through improved marketing initiatives. Corporate attention could be attracted for development of ‘Green’ drives.
Are consumers coming forward voluntarily to adopt green chemicals?
One can see an increased trend over the last two years on the specific demand for Ecofriendly products from a variety of commercial properties.
How do you distinguish demand pattern from small and large companies?
Predominantly we could see two reasons for a ‘green’ product adoption by a service provider. The first reason is that project or client demand. And second one is that the service provider wants to be distinctive in the market place by offering eco-friendly products.
