Israel: Ecoppia's robots clean 3 GW of solar panels without water

Israel’s Ecoppia Scientific Ltd (TASE:ECPA), a maker of water-free solar panel cleaning robots, said today that its project portfolio reached 3,000 MW.

It said its autonomous robots are cleaning over 4.8 billion solar panels installed on more than 30 large-scale projects in four different continents.

Ecoppia makes robotic solutions that can be installed on fixed-tilt racking and single-axis trackers. They clean the panels by using soft microfiber cloth and controlled airflow, and are managed remotely.

According to the company, its equipment significantly lowers O&M costs and ensures high solar park productivity, while saving water in locations where the resource is scarce.

“[T]he fact remains that the vast majority of large-scale solar sites are geographically located in arid areas, suffering from excessive soiling, dust storms and a lack of water resources,” Ecoppia said.

The company claims that it has so far directly saved over 6 billion litres of water in the most arid regions around the world. It expects to save over 100 billion litres of water by 2030.
