Green garbage disposal at hotels

Worldwide, waste is an everyday hassle on a large scale in hotels. With a number of in-house restaurants, bakeries, cafes, catering units and not to mention guests checking in and out – these hotels generate a colossal amount of garbage on a daily basis. Many ‘eco-conscious’ hoteliers are responding actively to these varied waste challenges with a strong focus on the green mantra – reduce, reuse, and recycle. According to hotel industry expert Zachar Conan, the ideal system for recycling at hotels is the implementation of recycling at source. Segregated waste collection bins made available throughout the hotel and an active recycling campaign that targets each guest on check-in is the best way to start.

Singapore is one of the world’s leading metropolitan cities that also boasts heavy floating population of tourists. In the city, The Singapore Hotel Association and the National Environment Agency have come together to launch a recycling and environmental initiative for hotels. The objective of this 3R (Reduce, Reuse, Recycle) Programme for Hotels is to help them adopt better environmentally conscious systems for waste management.

The Middle East has many such cities aiming for the tourist destination hot spot. A few of the Dubai hoteliers have now started adopting these recycling strategies throughout their hotels both at the front end and at the back end. This is where Blue Stream Environmental Technology LLC has helped these organizations realize their recycling strategies. Blue Stream is one of the leading waste management solutions providers in the Middle East and has been associated with the design and supply of many recycling container units to the hospitality industry. Blue Stream holds the largest collection of waste management products in the Middle East and Indian Sub Continent with a growing array of recycling container units.

The range of models offers each customer the exact kind of recycling container units that would match the ethos of their establishment. Blue Stream’s list of strong clientele in the hotel industry includes Starwood Hotels and Resorts Worldwide, Le Meridian, Rotana Hotels and many more. Waste management is a growing concern in the hospitality industry and the concerned entities are also stepping up efforts to keep their waste in check. Blue Stream caters revised designs as per each requirement taking into thorough account, the ambience of the hotel and their target audience. Suvarna Jeetendra, managing director of Blue Stream Environmental Technology LLC, UAE and Qatar and Eco Nirvana Technologies, India said, “Blue Stream is committed to encouraging these environmental campaigns and hotel sustainability plans focusing primarily on the process of solid waste minimization. Hotels in UAE are trying to adopt a holistic approach to sustainability deploying green practices in all areas. With eco- awareness being a priority in people’s lives today, this is a great opportunity to leverage the scale to both reduce the impact on the environment and provide a benefit for global communities. With proper encouragement and investment at all levels, all these targets of being an environmentally friendly industry can be effectively met.”
