Founder of Makwa, Aly Eteibe

Founded in 2018 by Aly Eteiba, Makwa allows users in Cairo to book different types of laundry services including dry cleaning, ironing, and washing and ironing, through its mobile app. The users can request their clothes to be picked-up by Makwa’s agent (and delivered as well) from different options available on the app. They also have the option to add special washing/ ironing instructions, track their orders, and make payments online, using the app.

The Egyptian startup offers these services by partnering with ‘high-quality’ vendors who clean the clothes while following Makwa’s guidelines. Aly Eteiba, the founder and CEO of Makwa, commenting on the occasion, said, “The investment coupled with the investor’s experience will help us continue to revolutionize the laundry industry for consumers and laundry professionals alike. We are solving a problem that every household has had an issue with at some point in time. Our goal is to offer our customers a convenient, hassle-free, and enjoyable customer experience, and at the same time deliver a reliable and consistent product and service.”

Makwa plans to use the investment to expand its team, upgrade its technology, and accelerate its expansion.
